Senate Republicans called on Democrat legislators to sign a petition which would convene a special session to cut and gap the gas tax and provide immediate relief to Connecticut motorists. The petition needs just six more Senate signatures.
beware our goverment is now thinking of rasing gas taxes, there a movement going on right now by the feds, a gas hike would be bad at this time , gas is the reason that were in a depression now , if the price of gas didnt go up last summer we wouldnt be in trouble today , it stop car sales, and production of new cars, people didnt go out and our economy went down the drain , so a gas hike would be a bad move now , lets get on track first
Yeah, but they won't do ANYTHING about the Zone pricing. It can be as much (as I've personally seen) as 50 cents difference when you leave Fairfield county. Fairfield county pays the most tax in the state- even though the state pays the most in the country. We'll see what happens, but Rell likes to raise taxes.
Its about time someone in the legislature clued in--this is a good idea, but whether it will be passed, and passed quickly, remains to be seen. I dont have a lot of faith in our elected officials at the moment.
The legislature has been fiddling while Connecticut burns, and the working class is always getting screwed.
Its not just with fuel costs either. Anyone recall that our income tax was supposed to sunset? Apparently our legislators have forgotten this too...

I went to an Internship, summer of 1974.
Sponsored by Stew McKinney, Lowell Weicker & Ron Sarasin.
I had a wonderful time & have reflected on this many times on this learning trip to DC.
Good to see Mr McKinney's efforts are still felt 30 years later.
