War Wall

War Wall was a student project that I shot in the sound stage. We could only use one camera, and it had to be captured in just one take. The point to the exercise was to teach us speed in shooting, and to be prepared on the set.

I used a scene from Brokeback Mountain as my inspiration for the short film. At the time, the line from the film, Why cant I quit you? had almost become a cliché. I didnt want to use it at least in the same way. So, I had the famous line translated into German, spoken by the male character Frederick.

One set-up, one take, fifteen minutes - oh my! I got an A for the weeks of casting, rehearsing, costuming, and directing the piece.
