Recursive YouTubing with Carl Sagan and IceCoreScientist

Remember the Pale Blue Marble left at Carl Sagan's grave on behalf of another YouTuber from Britain? This is where the marble came from - PastTimes, the Ithaca antiques shop in the Dewitt "mall" (near the Sagan Planet Walk's Jupiter monument). Chris's PB marble for Carl came from this very same shop. Adam, the owner, is seen, as is a woman with strikingly erotic perfect-posture ;-) . Hawt! Anyway, Adam's daughter was close friends with Carl's daughter Sasha when they were tiny kids and he knew Carl through that. I told him about the marble at Carl's grave and Nick, the YouTubing, and the post-blogathon Sagan revival taking place on YouTube, probably in large part thanks to Joel S. Here we see a snippet of them being clued in to the whole Sagan Pale Blue Dot meme taking hold on YouTube. It's, like, totally recursive YouTubing, dude.

They hadn't heard Carl's Pale Blue Dot before, but they liked it.

This is a great shop to get Sagan stories. On my first visit i think i had 5 contacts minimum from stopping into this one store. Great stories too. So let them know why you're buying a blue marble and where you're going to put it.

It's a great town. A lot to do, a natural/geological treasure, and of course, lots of places to visit.

I was pleased to hear a woman echo a dream of mine - that Carl's home on the gorge become a museum extolling his concerns and life work. He really was a word historical figure. And when you're in love, you want to tell the world...

We checked with PastTimes, and if the frog came from them, they have no recollection of it.

Stephanie and i both noticed the little blue/purple frog on Carl's headstone. She said it dates back to Aug '07 IIRC. For a while it vanished then was put back. Now in this video, if you look carefully, the tops of the monitors have similar plastic critters. I wonder if the frog came from this same shop. I wonder who left it.

I just used my (digital) still cam's video mode. Kinda of weak but it did the job. I do have one of your pic from then. Do you have more from Nov .9 2007?

Oh, and I don't have a video camera, but I do have pictures of Carl's gravesite from Nov 9th this year. If you want I could send them via e-mail. It's nice to see the ever growing collection of pale blue dots, partially inspired by you!
