The chairman of the Azerbaijan Youth Translators Association, Ismayil Jabrayilov, announced the creation of the first code of ethics for translators in Azerbaijan.

Jabrayilov formed the organization on September 30th of this year on the International Day of Translators. It currently runs a Daily Azeri Press Review project posted on www.pressaz.com and a Civil Society Support Project.

The code of ethics covers topics such as customer relationships, maintaining confidentiality of translated information, impartiality and objectivity, translation skills, and salary issues.

"The association has 92 members and first of all, they should follow items of Code of ethics," said Jabrayilov.

The Daily Press Review posts summaries and full translations of official, independent, and opposition newspapers on www.pressaz.com and is designed to bring Azerbaijan's daily news to foreign audiences.

The Civil Society Support project works to support civil society within Azerbaijan by providing free written and oral translation services and posting its members in unpaid internships in non-governmental organizations.
