Let me take you a couple of hundred years back, when Islam was just starting. It's true Muslims invaded numerous countries, but can you name one country that had actually suffered from that "invasion"? Nobody was ever forced to become Muslim, you had two choices, become a Muslim or pay Gizya, which is basically protection money which ensured that Muslims would protect you in the case of another enemy invading.
