Very sad that for some, this was the only photo ever taken. I still have some from my family.

@davidbjolley or have their siblings or parents stand in the photo with them. but you can tell who is dead and who is alive.

This isnt creepy...just a little sad that these were the only pictures that most had of their loved ones........beautiful video...thankyou ...x kirstie x
Nationally, 50 per cent of all recorded deaths were of children aged five and under. Figures for Witheridge were somewhat better with 31 percent in the 1820. However, the children were at the mercy of diarrhoea, whooping cough, croup, smallpox and measles, with measles being a major killer at this time.

Victorian fad, popular for a while. When a loved one died, you would take a family portrait with them to remember them in the future. So yes. There are real dead people and live people in the photos. Super creepy. It is called Post Mortem Victorian Photography.

@Chocolated910 Sometimes they would paint there eyelids to look like they were alive.
