This number in the original production made you want to get out of your seat and dance along with the cast. This number in the revival makes you either want to fall asleep or jump on stage and show them how to have fun. Not an office party I'd want to go to...
-
I fucking hate this song.
-
What the HELL did I just watch?!?! Nothing people are actually paying good money to watch I hope!!
-
From my point of view, I think what they wanted to cash in on the whole "Mad Men" phenomenon from last year and instead of doing a swinging 60's/sexual revolution production - the way I believe it really should be - they did the late 50's/early 60's look and sound. I was very disappointed with the whole thing :(
-
this clip is boring -- for much better, see Camp's version!
-
Sorry, folks but this is absolute cr@p compared to Donna, Margo and Baayork in the original. I know they can't all be them, but for a touted revival, this should have been more an homage to the original.
-
i remember it being way better live.
-
ew.... i dont like the costumes.....
-
hmmm...this choreography sucks!!! no as good as the original like the one that is performed in "Camp"
-
Were they kidding?
-
@oldschoolbrawlers Well, duh. But more specifically, it's too over-the-top in the beginning, spoiling it for the audience as opposed to letting it build to that solo halfway through in the original.
-
lmao. the teens in the movie 'camp' do a better job in their little play then these fools do in the FUCKING revival. lmao lmao lmao the jingle bells finale is fucking PATHETIC compared to the original. they ruined this song.
-
I miss Donna :( They were not near as good.
-
bring back donna mckechnie, please!!!!!!!
-
When I saw the revival and this song was over, I was left thinking, "That's it?" I wasn't expected something as great as the original (hard to top the original's legendary dance trio), but it was so bland, low-energy, and disappointing that even my lowered expectations were let down.
-
I saw the new production much of it was good but i waited to see this number whch was s how stopper in the original production -this was a real lame and ver uninspiring part of the play the audience response was just simply very kind !!!
-
Aw, man!! That's so disappointing. This is one of the most frenetic and energetic songs and dances in musical theatre! They needed a shot in the arm. What were they thinking?
-
@ReturnToTheSavoy I was so sad when I saw this clip. It's such a disappointment. Like you can hear them trying to catch their breath to sing those last few bars. And the choreography is so bland!!!!
-
THIS WAS THE WORST SHIT I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! OMFG!!! THIS CANNOT BE BROADWAY!!
-
Awful! Even the kids in Camp did it better!
-
it's over lackin gin energy. I feel like they all were like "its tiring to sing and dance at the same time" so it was kind a just halfed assed. Also its missing the string section that the orginal had
-
This song is so so so so so so bad.
-
this looked and sounded alot better live
-
I think this is just awful. Check out the original with the sensational Donna McKechnie. But this makes me want to puke. Yech.
first of all this is horribly sung. i can't stand that nasal sound that's been en vogue on broadway for the last fifteen years. why women in thier late thirties would want to sound like the chipettes is beyond me. the choreography is sloppy and the tempo is way too slow. i don't get it. this could have been a thirlling moment. it's a sad moment in musical theatre history really--about as sad as CZJ's performance of "send in the clowns" on this year's tony awards.

Does this come close to the original with Donna McKechnie, Baayork Lee, and Margo Sappington? NO. I was there in the 60's and 70's to see (and perform in) the original productions of the shows that are now being "revived" on Broadway. The thrill and the originality are gone. These are watered-down imitations.
