Episode 21: In this episode of Drinkin' Beer, I sample a bottle of Belhaven Wee Heavy Scottish Ale. This little number has easily become one of my top beers of all time.

  • I picked up a pint of these the other day, was nasty. Found out later, how to read the date. It had been on the shelf in the lights for 3 years LOL.

That sucks! I don't know if you've watched them or not, but I did a few reviews from beers I picked up from a chain liquor store in my area that all were bad. I ended up going on tirade about their practices toward the end. The "Mix-A-Six" beers start with Wild Onion Pumpkin Ale and continue from there (although not sequentially). Thanks for watching, btw!

  • I can't get Yuengling either. I can get pretty much any beer made in Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin and Indiana all day long, but beyond that it gets a little rough.

Yes I did watch them, and I am in total agreement with you man, we don't have that store here, but our local chains do the same thing, they leave stuff on the shelf for years until somebody like me buys it.

If interested this is how the coding is read on a pint:

    Code is:

    ...

LYY JJJ hh:mm Tn (Lot year, julian date, hour, minute of

    production + tank number)

  • Scotch ales and wee heavies are my absolute favorite beers! I'd like to recommend Orkney's "Skullsplitter" wee heavy also from Scotland. Awesome review!

  • stone has one of the koolest breweries. it's a "bar/grill/garden." in cali, we don't have yuengling and dogfish head is hard to find. so don't feel too bad.
