Video of a July 29, 2010, exchange between Representatives Peter King and Robert Weiner on King's assertion that Democrats jeopardized passage of H.R. 847, a 9/11 First Responders Medical Compensation Bill, because they were afraid of voting on GOP amendments to bar compensation for undocumented aliens. The House defeated the bill in July, but it is expected to take up the measure again on Wednesday, September 29, 2010.
@ohiosux That's true, they could've brought the bill to the floor with the Republicans bullshit amendment attached to it. I don't know what else was attached to the bill, I'm assuming there were other amendments that had merit. The GOP thought they could either force the Democrats to pass their nativist amendment, or make them look bad for not passing the bill. It backfired and made the GOP look like a bunch of assholes.

@202pdiddy It still wouldn't have prevented them from bringing a bill to the floor for this and this alone, voting down or blocking all amendments to that bill, and passing it.

There's a gaping hole in Peter King's argument: Republicans don't oppose the merits of the bill. They're tacking something totally unrelated onto the 9/11 first responder's bill (immigration) and then complaining about the bill not being passed.
