A British presence was established in Bermuda in 1609 when the Sea Venture, the flagship of a fleet en route to Jamestown, Virginia, founded two years earlier, was shipwrecked.
Today's populace COULD NOT fathom the hardships that those 100 or so people went thru while at sea, or at Bermuda, or arriving at Jamestown. Nice Job!
Interesting. I recently found out that one of my ancestors, Stephen Hopkins, was on the Sea Venture. After his contract time in Virginia, he went back to England, found his children, remarried, and signed on with the Mayflower in 1620, possibly as an "expert" on Native Americans, since he had actually seen Native Americans in Jamestown.
This is native land.
