In recognition of the importance of Diversity and the roles it has played in reshaping American values, the month of February is celebrated across the country as Black History Month. KCDHH also recognizes the contribution of prominent Black deaf and hard of hearing people in the community. It is thus, with a great sense of responsibility that our own Opeoluwa Sotonwa, an African, made a video to recount the good deeds of one of the greatest Deaf Americans to ever set foot on the African continent, Dr. Andrew Jackson Foster. According to Opeoluwa, Dr. Foster brought education to the Deaf community in Africa which banished illiteracy and helped people like him to lead successful lives. To view Opeoluwa's video, please visit our website www.kcdhh.ky.gov.
