That is a theory I'd like to see someone flesh out. I'd be more than happy if it's true but the only problem would be finding evidence for any such repentance on Paul's part. Some of the epistles seem to have been written quite late in his life and there was no sign there that he had changed his tune.

So you are basicly saying that Luke followed the wrong guy. Completely ignoring God's plan to save the world mainly through Paul to bring a living Jesus to a dying world. Israel rejected Jesus and the figtree would not produce any fruit. It was God's plan to cause a bit of stife, so Paul would separate himself to fulfill God's will for his life.
