iloton, you are right that a splitter does generally catch higher than in the squat snatch, but an elite splitter like basznowski (sp?) or schemansky caught much much lower. in cases like that, the split is very very efficient if not as efficient as a very well executed squat snatch
Nice progression. Thanks for posting this. Based on the height of the catch, you can really see in your video why this was phased out of use in olympic competition, but it probably provides a unique set of athletic benefits the squat snatch does not, particularly if you're someone who doesn't split jerk.

Really seemed to get the movement by week 3. Looked like the floor slid her under the weight, rather than doing it on her own power like she did.
