http://storyofcapandtrade.org - The Story of Cap & Trade is a fast-paced, fact-filled look at the leading climate solution being discussed at Copenhagen and on Capitol Hill. Host Annie Leonard introduces the energy traders and Wall Street financiers at the heart of this scheme and reveals the "devils in the details" in current cap and trade proposals: free permits to big polluters, fake offsets and distraction from whats really required to tackle the climate crisis. If youve heard about Cap & Trade, but arent sure how it works (or who benefits), this is the movie is for you.

And, for all you fact checkers out there,

  • @aphoxema Every attempt to point out the self destructive nature of our current paradigm is automatically labeled "Communism" , "Socialism" and so on. Taking care of each other , sharing , creating a sustainable future equals oppression , starvation and death :P With the same train go thought you can say that freedom & democracy leads to illegal invasions to steal resources , corruption and child labour.

  • you don't understand economics very well do you?

  • The planet isn't in danger from us. The planet has gone through earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, fires, reshifting of the magnetic poles, gamma ray bursts, asteroid impacts, and fucking collision with another planet for christ's sake! How climate alteration that doesn't even have solid proof yet can destroy life on this planet or the planet itself is beyond naive or arrogant. It's just purely assanine.

  • I didn't breath a sigh of releif. I actually facepalmed wondering doesn't the government have anything better to do?

  • Dear Bitch, please stop making these videos, and instead consider a carrier in cheesy animation. Also ummm I guess you didn't know this, but the Soviet Union was supposed to have died out.

  • @z3r0Projects Ah, but 'moving currency' as you call it is exactly how good societies are built. Scientists wouldn't be able to do much without rich guys giving them grants; teachers have to have facilities and buildings owned by rich people (except for public schools); many inventions and products that were really expensive at first (read: just about every major invention ever) were able to be profitable because of the rich, then eventually lower in price and help the world. Thank you.

  • @TheDavoo If capitalism would work , the wealthiest people would be those that contribute the most to society like scientists and teachers. But the most wealthy people seem to contribute NOTHING at all... Investment bankers , hedge fund managers and so on. Just moving currency...

  • @TheDavoo Unfortunately the reality is that governments use the law to engage in theft , child labour and invasions to become wealthy. Isn't that a clear sign that the system is inherently corrupt? Laws are patches to fix a broken system, the more flaws the more laws you need. It's time to consider something completely new. Something that works for everyone , not just the wealthiest minority. Forget about this left / right bullshit i read everywhere. This is about the survival of humanity.

  • @sirunlalala You understand that 80% of our oxygen is produced by phytoplankton in the ocean right?

  • @z3r0Projects In capitalism, you become wealthy by serving humanity. If people give you money, that means you did something that they value. Naturally, most everyone will act according to their own self interest, thus making them do things that people want.

Theft, child labor and 'illegal invasions' you mentioned is what the government and law are for to stop. Encourage the government to focus on just that and we'll all be fine. Thank you for reading, and I hope you understand.

  • I'm sorry but all "serious scientists" agree on the exact same diagnosis? Please! So if they don't agree with your favorite theory you deem them "not serious scientists"??? LAME!!!!
