A collage again; three pieces that seemed to slide over one another quite sweetly. The music was the very first thing Kris and I did once we had set up all my gear in Jew St. It was done live, I think, farting around with knobs and sliders, just to see if everything worked, basically.

The main part of this event is Adrienne Thomas' 'Laundrette'. I'd hear her perform it several times at various performances and during the weekend when she and Emmanuel were at the studio to record 'The Quest' (which you can hear elsewhere in the Vault) I asked her if she would to do it again. Later I transferred it to tape and played around with the tapespeed to add a layer of strangeness and unpredictability.

Emmanuel Williams' little bookends here were not connected. They were a part of a monster poem he'd just written that week. The poem 'Snake' is/was a part of that same piece.

We never did manage to take this any further. Within weeks of our sessions both had left Lewes/Brighton and moved abroad.

Tenth upload of a series of audio collages and demos created between the Summer of 1998 and the Spring of 2000 in the New Music Studios--my place, then, at 11 Jew Street, Brighton, England. --- DvN
