@danishown2 Well, for a country the size of a peanut on earth, you must have very few railroads to care of and it would be a shame if it did not happen so. This comparison is like "Highways in Germany are better than in USA" with Germany being the size of half of Texas. I am so happy not to be living in a country that is 2 hours by drive from one end to the other in US standards. So don't give people the "we are a better civilization and our trains are nicer" thing...

130 kmph is definately not "staggering". It is snail's pace by world standards.

now this is a badass video. One of my ambitions when I was a kid was to become a locomotive dri..errrr pilot!!! And I become a programming desk jockey instead. FML!

Indian Railways trains are a bit dirty, and sometimes not everything works. BUT, they are really fast, smooth, and given the huge crowds they carry, pretty doggone safe. I rode them 3 times and did enjoy the ride. It was really an adventure.
