Top 11 Quarterbacks in College Football History

The best college QB ever? Matt Leinart, Vince Young, Doug Flutie or Peyton Manning? It's an easy question without an easy answer. That title comes with a ton of white noise.

Was it the system? Was it the talent around the quarterback? Was it the era? How much did the level of competition factor in? Did that QB shine in the biggest moments, on the biggest stage, with the biggest performance? Jeff George had a cannon, but he changed schools faster than some girlfriends change outfits.




Jim Plunkett, Roger Staubach, Sammie Baugh all made their mark. John Elway took Stanford to new heights, but would he have excelled in the run-and-gun system that helped Andre Ware put up prolific numbers? No one will ever know.


At the end of the day, one measure of best ever has to be results. Fair or unfair, players are graded by production and influence. A quarterback who wins consistently, wins the national championship and wins a Heisman, has to be rewarded with a seat at the best-ever table.
