Can't get the movie to play. Funny the commercials play real good. You Tube is going commercial. Too bad. They suck

This is such a beautifully filmed movie. Gary Cooper was, as usual, amazing.

I don't like this adaption of the book. I don't think it does Hemingway any justice at all. They have cut out too many pivotal moments and even changed some of the story completely. I also thought the films portrayal of Catherine Barkley to be stale and bland - in the book her personality and love for Henry comes across very quirky and unique, which is a major part in the story for me.
I don't rate it at all.

Why do you use movies as a substitute for reading? To the world, that attitude makes us look like ignorant slackers. I thought we tried to move beyond that when we switched Presidents.

Is this based DIRECTLY off the book? I can use it to study.

Definitely not. The general story is the same, but huge chunks are changed or omitted completely.

Great movie, really glad they put it on the tube =) If you want more of A Farewell to Arms, I made a short movie version based on a couple of scenes from the book some time ago. This was before I having watched this movie. So if interested, watch my film and let me know what you think! =)
