  • @VictorLepanto some of his recent posthumous books, which came out this last week i believe, have his old sense of sci-fi style. pirate latitudes was definitely an anomaly to his other works.

  • @Jorge329: Ah, too bad, I might have heard something about that but I've never really followed him. None the less, I still stand by my position that he abandoned sci-fi, which is future oriented, for historical fiction.

  • @VictorLepanto crichton is dead.

  • I find if interesting that Crichton has stopped writing about sci-fi & is writing historical fiction. In a way, his Timeline was a transition. A time travel movie to Medieval France is also about the past. I detect a loss of hope in science & the future.

  • @Coople well it was never fully finished if it was found in manuscript form :D its quite a decent book though.

  • @melbyRick

no no you misunderstand. Its not that he changed his style. its just that this book seemed more like a collection of ideas versus a detailed masterpiece. it wasn't a bad book, it just wasn't his best!

  • @Coople Master and Commander was at least better than Pirates

  • @confidentdog2011 Well, if you sincerely liked this one, then probably none of them, since apparently he completely changed his style in this one.

  • @Coople Haha! Yes!

  • @Coople That's what I was thinking when I was first reading through it... it comes off as cliche and... should I say pandering... except that you'd think his audience would be a little more sophisticated than that. It's almost as if he thought he should write something like Pirates of the Caribbean mixed with Oceans Eleven... and then it just got sloppy. Am I right?
