The few remaining drum corps should be put on an endangered species list along with the once unique sound they were able to create.

  • you know,as a current marching member i have to say that THIS is the reason why drum corps is "dying," as you so boldy put it. all of you old fucks don't support the activity just because it is going a different direction. if you didn't wanted change, then you should've said something. you have no right to criticize if you were not part of the voting. if you didn't want electronics, it was YOU who should have said something. if you didn't want a corps to fold, YOU SHOULD'VE DONE SOMETHING!

  • It's okay. We still have Carolina Crown.

  • Ha it's funny cuz DCI isn't dying anytime soon

  • Well. It is 2012 and we are still here.

  • @stayfrostywilly you are part of the new problem with DCI. There was no input from former members of corps. There was no democratically held election. I'm not asking that there should have been a vote that included my hanging Chad. I searched andsearched for tv coverage of the bands to see if there were any corps at the show....there weren't. The only drum corps show I saw was from the scouts. In deference to the crown I will not make disparaging comments about them...I just never liked t

  • Make one bit of difference. You DCI bands have taken all of the chocolate out of the music.

  • Melloman, you have no clue what ur talking about. These new corps yes have fast moving formations; however, the generic we're gonna all run around the field as fast as we can playing our tubular crap-sounding trumpets and tubas, has to cease. It is ok in the right proportions but when I look at today's drill, often you can call the "band" on the field the blue cadets of Carolina coats vanguard because they all look the same so why bother differentiating them!? Don't get me started on how bri

  • we did argue ,we fought when bflat 3 valve horns were rammed down our throats .we were told they were necessary because they'd be easier so you lazier less talented "musicians " wouldn't have to learn new fingerings,we argued when we heard we needed sound amplification in the pits.the theory? smaller corps could use fewer instruments it would be cheaper to function, then electronic keyboards and vocals now .they've even talked about saxs "we need them" and it will happen

  • PT4 at melloman, one more thing, the difference between corps now and then, we had some God Damn respect for those who came before us. If it wasn't for us old farts, there would be no new farts. So go back to your HS band and play your flute to La Bamba and i'll fly away. I still love corps and support it. I'll be at the ATL show this yr. Be on the lower level so maybe it'll be a little loud, like it's sposed to be. U want DCI excitement? Star alumni 2010. That's how it's done son. OLD SCHOOL!!

  • pt3 to The melloMan, Not sure if you've marched. Hope not given your attitude, cause that means the activity has really tanked. This great drill you speak of? Innovated by us. Better musicallity? Yeah, more options not using a G horn. Or should I say bugle, since trumpets aren't. Watch the old vids or listen to recordings from 80s,'90s, even early 2000's. Note the crowds screamin so loud you can't hear the corps. Not just at the end. Pretty music? listen to orchestra All bout entertainment.
