A. INTRO: This video demonstrates the "how-it-works" details of a G-Scale 2-Track Automatic Yard. It demonstrates 5 different possible modes of operation: (1) depowered 1 train, (2) block only 2 trains, (3) siding only 2 trains, (4) block+siding 3 trains [normal mode], and (5) block+siding 5 trains ['juggling' mode]). Due to YouTube length limitations, this YouTube version of "How It Works" is divided into 3 parts.

The following 11 videos are arranged in suggested viewing order:
~~~
* #328 Pt 1/3: (this video) - "How-It-Works", Pt 1/3 - uses 1992 'Model 202' unit to demonstrate DETAILS of how a 2-track automatic LGB yard can control from 1 to 3 or more multiple trains on the same track. Demonstrates 'Mode 1' de-powered and 'Mode 2' Automatic Passing Siding controlling 2 trains.
* #328 Pt 2/3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ka6iBHPbEhM - "How-It-Works" continued, Pt 2/3. Demonstrates 'Mode 3' Automatic Block controlling 2 trains, and 'Mode 4' Automatic Switching Block controlling 3 trains (NORMAL mode of operation).
* #328 Pt 3/3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HfCwCmUd61I - "How-It-Works" continued, Pt 3/3. Demonstrates 'Mode 5' Automatic Switching Block controlling 5 trains (overloaded 'juggling' mode).
~~~
* #343: http://youtube.com/watch?v=oQgHuHVuOBE - shows latest 2007 'Model 206' design 2-track automatic yard operating on an LGB display.
* #341: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0BzBPXb9z7Q - 4-track 'Zellner Yard' version of same type of automatic LGB yard.
* #324: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bDQhB_4XE9Y - Automatic Route Selection - shows 4 trains on 1 track, automatically being alternately routed onto 2 different routes).
* #329: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hh0ozoPjoAE - Similar to first Video #328, but shows earlier 1992 Model '202' (163) 2-track automatic yard, operating on a larger, multi-level display.
~~~
* 344: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z20K-WYfvcU - 2007 "S Gauge Steamup" video, shows controlling 3 S gauge American Flyer trains on 1 track by using an automatic passing siding and an automatic block, activated by stock Flyer track trips and Flyer semaphore.
* #346 Pt 1/3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=AQvdO9CzH1c - S gauge Automatic Block, Pt 1/3 - using RR Concepts Switching Interface Module. Part 1 covers (1) Switching Interface Module, (2) Reed Switches (sensors), and (3) Magnets.
* #346 Pt 2/3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ll1sOX2Cs1Q - S gauge Automatic Block, Pt 2/3. Part 2 covers (4) Sensor Activation, (5) Wiring Diagram, (6) Block Locations, (7) Sensor Locations, and (8) Operation with 2 can-motor engines.
* #346 Pt 3/3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=grk1LoGS9M4 - S gauge Automatic Block, Pt 3/3. Part 3 covers (8 cont) Operation (continued), (9) Operation w/1 vintage Flyer engine and 1 can-motor engine, and (10 Operation w/2 vintage Flyer engines.
C. HOW THIS CONTROL WORKS:
LGB magnets on the bottom of the engines activate LGB reed switches in the track. The reed switches trigger LGB switch motors to throw track switches, and trigger LGB relays which turn blocks on and off.
[======]
D. WHAT'S THIS CONTROL USEFUL FOR:
These automatic controls are intended mainly for display layouts, where you are trying to increase the "entertainment" effect of the trains by running 3 or more of them on the same track, instead of just running a single train around and around. The controls consist basically of 2 LGB switch motors & relay points, 2 rheostats, & 2 toggle switches.
