  • They were the best soprano/mezzo pairing of the latter half of the 20th century. No other duo comes close. Brava!

  • @domi2020 we all have different ears and vive la difference I say. I respect your opinion x i agree sutherland performs lucia de lammermoor way beyond even the gifts of La superba! but for me it is chemistry and sung live semiramide with horne and caballe had something special too.

  • @emf1918 I dont think your comments are made on sound ground. Ms Caballe is a gorgeous singer and I am a fan of hers but when it comes to coloratura roles Sutherland is LA Stupenda. They are different voices of course but what Sutherland has Caballe doesn't come close I am afraid. For that matter- Sutherland /Horne partnership was one of the most miraculous to have ever taken place .

  • if you want to hear how this should really sound look for horne and caballe, their voices are far more in tune and they need not resort to over the top vocal gymnastics! sutherland had a good voice but in no way is she comparable with the great mistress of the bel canto montserrat caballe!!

  • Er... it's the other way round, actually, i.e. it's Anderson that sounds Sutherland-esque. Except that when Dame Joan sounds sublime and unearthly, Anderson sounds just plain boring!

  • I'm ill! All the operas I've sung in didn't have such a luxury. I just made sure to know how to make up words on the spot. :-/

  • It's the prompter; most operas have a person in a box reciting the words so that singers don't get lost. Sometimes they place the microphone too close to the prompter and you can hear him. I know, it's annoying.

  • I wanna know who the annoying ass saying text is right before they come in.

  • Sutherland sounds like June Anderson in some of this!

  • il duetto più piacevole e che posso ascoltare anche dieci volte di seguito senza stancarmi....
