Video with the address of Taiwanese President Chen Shui Bian for members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, on the occasion of teh commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the lifting of martial law in Taiwan. (Chinese, with subtitles in English)
QUOTE - 8 February 2007, Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs: “United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 of 25 October 1971 recognised the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole representative of China. Although Taiwan continues to exercise autonomy and to term itself ''‘The Republic of China’'', this is not recognised in international law. Taiwan’s official status is that of a Province of China.”

The only thing the west will never allow great China to recover to the richest nation as recent as 200 years ago is a united Chinese nation. They simply want to keep exploiting the world with comfort including Chinese wherever they are in mainland China, Taiwan, or even in Australia and America.
