That's Tom Corbett's take on what he sees as "an abundance of poorly built" properties in Chicago today.
Corbett is a highly-rated home inspector who calls them as he sees them and is, as a result, not much loved by real estate agents or developers. He's also a columnist for YoChicago's New Homes Magazine and the Chicago Sun-Times.
The video above is part one of a wide-ranging discussion that Tom and I had today on current new construction problems in Chicago. Stay tuned for much more.
Tom is a pretty good inspector. I would hire him but also hire a separate structural engineer as well--the two serve as an added extra layer of building detective work. Two eyes are always better than one in my opinion. Hire immediately BEFORE buying a property and to give you leverage on pricing.
