Five days after racing at NCAA's, Jill Costello was told she had cancer. She had put off going to the trainer for a few days after getting back from New Jersey. She felt a dull pain just before NCAA's, and it did not go away. The news quickly turned serious.
The cancer had spread throughout her body. Jill was immediately checked into the hospital, and the treatment is very aggressive. jill would have it no other way. Even though she's starting "a length behind", Jill has taken more than few deep breaths, and has said "Bring it on!"
The chemotherapy has begun, and the fight is on. The battles against Stanford, Washington, USC, Yale, Virginia and everyone else has prepared her for the fight of her life. She's tough, willing and ready. Jill's is doing everything she can to beat this, and she's a real fighter.
Go Bears! Go Jill!
I read the Sports Ilustrated article at a Barnes n Noble. By the end of it tears were flowing down my cheeks. Unbelievable, inspiring, sad, and made me think I could be so much stronger. I didn't know Jill but she influenced my life.
