"Qurbani" (Hindi: क़ुरबानी, Urdu: قربانی) is a 1980 Indian Urdu/Hindi movie. Produced and directed by Feroz Khan (under the banner of FK International). The film stars Vinod Khanna, Zeenat Aman, Amjad Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Aruna Irani, Amrish Puri and Kader Khan.

The film's direction, urban setting, music and foreign locales, as well as upmarket images, made it stand out when it was released.

Biddu was the music director for the song "Aap Jaisa Koi" which introduced him and Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan to Indian films. The rest of the songs and the background score were set by Kalyanji-Anandji

The movie is known for excellent music and songs, including the title qawwali 'Qurbani Qurbani', written by the Urdu Poet Farooq Qaiser, and rendered by Anwar, Kishore Kumar and Aziz Nazan. It also has a gem in Mohammed Rafi rendered song, Kya Dekhte ho', which was written by Indivar.

Qurbani became a box office success and the biggest hit of the year. Vinod Khanna also became the front runner for the superstar title. Its songs were a rage and the movie sold the most number of records and tapes in that year. * The qawwali "Qurbani qurbani" received a special award for 'The Most Amazing Evergreen Song' by Bollywood music producer Rakesh Roshan. * To draw shock from the audience, a scene was included having a calculated decimation of a Mercedes Benz in an underground parking lot. This at a time when not many in India had seen a mercedes, let alone sit in one.

Awards and nominations; * Filmfare Best Female Playback Award-Nazia Hassan for the song "Aap Jaisa Koi" * Filmfare Best Sound-P. Harikishan * Filmfare Nomination for Best Actor-Vinod Khanna * Filmfare Nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role--Amjad Khan * Filmfare Nomination for Best Music-Kalyanji-Anandji * Filmfare Nomination for Best Female Playback Singer-Kanchan for the song "Laila O Laila"

Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी, Urdu: محمد رفیع; December 24, 1924 July 31, 1980), often addressed as Rafi Sahib, was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades and is one of the most versatile male singers in the history of Indian cinema. Rafi sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada and Telugu. He also recorded English and Persian songs. He is primarily remembered, however, for his Hindi songs, which still remain very popular in India today and also among the Indian diaspora. He dominated the Bollywood music industry from the 1950s to the 1970s along with Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar.

Between 1950 and 1970, Rafi was one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood.

In 1965, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Sri award.

Awards; * 2001 - Rafi was honored with the "best singer of the millennium" by Hero Honda and Stardust magazine in Mumbai on Jan 7, 2001...............

Asha Bhosle (Marathi: आशा भोंसले) (born September 8, 1933) is an Indian singer. She is best known as a Bollywood playback singer, although she has a much wider repertoire. Her career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over 1000 Bollywood movies and sold many records. She is the sister of the equally accomplished Lata Mangeshkar.

Asha Bhosle has won seven Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards out of 18 nominations. She won her first two awards in 1967 and 1968, when Lata Mangeshkar still used to accept the award (Mangeshkar asked not to be considered for the award nominations after 1969 to promote new talent). After receiving the award in 1979, Bhosle emulated her elder sister and requested that her name not be considered for the nominations hereafter............
