Oslo Accord: What Happened And Why It Failed

The Oslo Accords, officially called the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements or Declaration of Principles (DOP) was a milestone in the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict, one of the major continuing issues within the wider Arab-Israeli conflict. It was the first direct, face-to-face agreement between the government of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

The Oslo Accords were a framework for the future relations between the two parties. The Accords provided for the creation of a Palestinian National Authority (PNA). The Palestinian Authority would have responsibility for the administration of the territory under its control. The Accords also called for the withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from parts of the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

It was anticipated that this arrangement would last for a five-year interim period during which a permanent agreement would be negotiated (beginning no later than May 1996). Permanent issues such as positions on Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, Israeli settlements, security and borders were deliberately left to be decided at a later stage. Interim Palestinian self-government was to be granted by Israel in phases.

Palestinians started suicide attacks in Israel because Oslo gave them the freedom to acquire bombs, it was impossible when IDF was in control.

Demolition of Arab houses happened only in Israeli land, for illegal houses, and it would stop after the land would be transterred to PA if they did their part.

Settlements are discussed in the video.

Israeli archeology is VERY careful on preserving every finding (also muslim), the tunnel is on the Israeli side and under Jewish holy site.

Yes I know that the Israeli prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin, was murdered by an extremist, but no, "the jews" did not assasinate him for signing the agreement at the Oslo Accords. In fact, he was democratically elected to mandate that action so please don't start promoting any conspiracies.

Now I've watched the documentary. It lacks factual statements and play mostly on emotions. If we continue on the Oslo Accords, the documentary does not cover the agreement and how both sides implemented it. It compeletly ignores Palestinian commitments and their failures to follow the terms. Instead the documentary reason around Israeli settlements, which ironically still was not covered by Oslo.

Why should Israel adopt a policy of appeasement instead of mutal agreement?

This video also fails to mention the Isreali Settler that killed 26 Palestinians in a mosque and wounded 200 others. Which in turn resulted in the terrorist activities.

@musikali1 Palestinian didn't start suicide attacks because of Oslo, Hamas started bombing because they wanted to undermine the PLO. Hamas wanted to stop the 'peace process'. There a many factors that make up Oslo and why it failed, this video has little relevance if any. The video only plays a blame game, Read "The rise and fall of the Oslo Peace Process". by Avi Shaim it will give you a better idea. Everything isn't black and white.
