Blonde bombshell actress Julie Ege, who starred in a string of British comedy films in the seventies, has died from cancer at the age of 64.

The Norwegian-born actress began her career as a model and three years later was crowned Miss Norway. She studied English at the University of Oslo and then came to Britain where she landed a role in the Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service in 1969.

She went on to play leading roles in top box office comedies such as Every Home Should Have One with Marty Feldman, Up Pompeii with Frankie Howerd and The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins with Roy Hudd and Ronnie Barker.

Other films included the Ned Sherrin comedy Rentadick, Not Now Darling and the sex comedy Percy's Progress. In 1975 she starred in The Amorous Milkman.

She also appeared in Hammer Horror films but eventually retired from the screen to train as a care worker in Norway. In 1998, she completed a three-year course to become a registered nurse and, despite being diagnosed with both breast and lung cancer, continued to work in a hospital in Oslo.

Rest in Peace, Julie. Norway will never see another one like you.

  • I am so sad to hear the news that Julie Ege has past away. She was the last of the many beauties that were part of world famous Hammer Glamour Girls. I loved her in the legend of the 7 golden vampires.

  • I agree, Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires was my favorite Ege-movie as well!

  • she was awsome in creatures the world forgot

  • Omg ! I didn't know. What a pity. At first sight, she learned to me to what a woman look like. She was like both a venus and a goddess. I think that any beautiful girl should show what beauty she is. No shame. Really.

  • Wonderful music! Where did you find this version of "Nobody does it better"?

  • She was what you called a woman

  • I saw her in 'Her Majesty', among others beauties and she was shinning in just a small part.

I can't understand why Cubby didn't sign her to another bond film as a truly bond girl as she did with Maud Adams.

She problaby would be one of the best and hot of all times with the right part.

  • A very beautiful woman

  • rip sweet princess

  • Can anyone uppload her appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson ?

  • Classic Norwegian / Scandinavian beauty ! Stunning !

In 1998 in her mid 50's, she completed a three-year course to become a registered nurse and, despite being diagnosed with both breast and lung cancer, continued to work in a hospital in Oslo.

Can you imagine having this nurse taking care of you ??!

  • I developed a crush on this woman when I was a little kid watching old movies on the Saturday matinee channel, but I only recently learned her name.

She was a beautiful woman and she even looked good during her later years.

  • This is a perfect example of beauty. And by the look of her face, I could say she liked to smile a lot. She was probably a remarkable woman. May you rest in peace.

  • Oooh, lucky you! :)
