@TheRecordplayers It is interesting that you discuss climate, because this is one of the two so called "glass houses" in the U.S. built in the formative postwar years of the modernist period, and both are in cold climates (Phillip Johnson's "Glass House" is in Conneticut!) The other weather issue that would be a problem for me in the Farnsworth House is tornado...where would you go? There is no severe storm or tornado shelter included whatsoever and Illinois is prone to tornado.

Must be a summer house, Illinois gets very cold in winter and the Farnsworth house is floated above grade. I wonder if the concrete subfloor is radiantly heated and where the boiler is? Nevertheless, its seminal modernism.

are visitors allowed inside the house?

Yes, the house is open to the public. The visitor center in Plano offers exciting guided tours. (Inside filming is not allowed)
