I got my 1st ever 7b flash on Veteran's Day! This is definitely the hardest move I've ever done in juggling. I did some 5 and 6b exercises to prepare for 7, then got the flash fairly quickly. Keep in mind, I spent about 2 and a half minutes trying to flash 7; I just thought a video of me dropping a lot would be really boring, so I just put in the actual flash. I'm not going to work hard on 7 just yet; the flash was just to help my 5, which it did. However, any tips on improving the quality of the flash are welcome. Until next time, happy juggling and God bless!

  • Congratulations! I remember my own first and I was thrilled as hell. Yours was nicely executed for a first ever.

Question - why russians? Are they the props you were used to juggle since you began? Otherwise I think they offer several limitations to the numbers above 5. I started with beanbags, but chose russians as well in the summer of 2010. They felt 5x harder to juggle.

If you want advice, get used to launching and catching the balanced ball. Once that is automatic, 7 will feel like (6+1)

  • @bozobozo Thanks! That means a lot.

As to the russians, I've been juggling them for almost a year now (I've been juggling for 2 years) and I use them because they make my patterns feel easier and more consistent. Yes, their size does pose some limitations for the higher numbers, but David Ferman has come up with some creative ways to start 9 and 10 with them.

Also, thanks for that tip; I'll keep that in mind!

  • Nicely done! ...and on your knees, at that!

If I were you, I'd find a place where you can juggle standing up :P Other than that, work on a bunch of 5b siteswaps to develop your overall skill - 744, 645, (6x,4)*, 753, etc. Keep it up, man!

  • @ThomWustl Thanks! And yeah, I really should get a better practice space, lol. I've been thinking about asking my school if I can use the gym for practice, so we'll see how that goes.

  • Very nice. First flashes are always the best feeling. Other than that I think Thom is right, siteswaps will make everything you do easier.

  • I agree. also your last throw was kid of low so try and keep it at the same height.Good Luck!
