I don't understand what is so hard to understand. You can't keep printing money and shopping. It's that simple. I feel like I'm going mad.. that this is not obvious even to most trained economists.

You missed his point entirely. He's not arguing that capitalism as an idea has failed but that the capitalism in the western world will collapse. Also, the Fed, while definitely guilty of currency debasement, does not deal with centrally planned economies. That would require them to literally decide how much of every item is produced in the country.

What we are seeing is not a failure of capitalism, but a failure of socialism or dare I say communism. I urge everyone to read the top ten planks of the Communist Manifesto. You will see that the United States has fulfilled these ten planks. When a nation fulfills these ten planks they are communist according to Mr. Marx himself. Read plank 5 which calls for central bank. What entity is to blame for our financial mess? None other than a central ecomomic planning authority known as the Fed.
