Agreed this is one of Buddy's best bands. Bob Crea gets off a hot funky solo and Joe Beck's guitar provides some tasty fills. I always felt the recording level on the band was rather badly distorted. True BR's bands were LOUD, but his Pacific Jazz and RCA sides were mixed better overall. Just my opinion.....I can overlook the flaw in favor of all the fine playing from BR and the band. I asked Charlie Davis (lead tpt) about it and he said BR was very happy with this band.

i love this song!! one of my favs,.. love the way he calls in the next intrument with his drumming, like he doesn't even have to look up, they just here him call for it and boom its there.. beautiful!!!

I am recording a drumming Dvd in August and one of the features will be me talking about influential albums, this is one of them!!
I remember hearing it when I was about 12 years old and I don't think I have ever been the same!!
I love turning drum students onto this album which gets over looked as most people just buy 'Big Swing Face' - 'Mercy, Mercy' etc..
I wish he didnt use that photo as a cover though!! Hehehe . . .
