She does have and indoor litter pan. I'm gonna give it a try despite her handicap (as if it as ever stopped her from being a normal cat). i let you know how it works out.

???i have a cat with a missing front leg. do you think i would be able to train her or do you think it would be difficult for her to balance? she is able to run and jump up on things as if she had all limbs. also she is aloud to go outside and sometimes does her business out there. do you think that would make training more difficult?

Well that's a new question for me! Deep bow to your little girl. She sounds like a very special cat indeed. You and she will need to be pioneers and see for yourself if this is something the two of you want to tackle. If she doesn't currently have an indoor litterbox, there would be little value in trying to train her. Most cats who are in/outdoor will simply choose to do their business in the backyard.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Congratulations on your new kitty! Rather than age it seems success at toile training has more to do with the individual cat and her preferences and personality. However it does take quite a bit more balance to perch on a toilet seat than squat in a litter box and most feedback I hear of success stories are with kittens older than 6 months.

your Sphynx is gorgeous! they seem so hard to come by around here. I would LOVE to have a Sphynx in my family. But for now, we have a British Bombay named Hazel. We are going to try this method with Hazel (Nut). ;-) Thank you!

Our cats like to drink out of the toilet. Do you think this will make it less likely for them to learn to use the toilet?

lol -- I never heard about this being a problem. You may want to give her a little water dish in your bathroom though, just in case she misses her favorite "watering hole" during the training. ;-)
