Soviet Army Parade Victory Day, 1990 Парад Победы

This is the parade in Moscow's Red Square, devoted to the 45th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War, 9 May 1990. The Soviet Union enters the 1990s in a state of uncertainty with economic restructuring problems, as well as nationlistic seccessionist movements beginning to take hold throughout the country. Shaken from The Revolutions of 1989 throughout Eastern Europe, the future of the Soviet Union was brought into question. With all the serious problems occuring in the USSR, this parade was held in an attempt to raise patriotism and unity throughout the Soviet nation. However, this would be the final Soviet Victory Day parade before the USSR collapsed at the end of 1991. This parade would introduce camouflage painted vehicles. Some notable new military technologies also introduced during this parade would be the BMP-3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle, the BMD-2 Airborne Infantry Fighting Vechicle, and the T-80UD Main Battle Tank. Presiding over the parade is Minister of Defense of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union; Dmitriy Yazov. Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, Colonel General; Nikolai Kalinin. Music performed by the Moscow Military District Orchestra, directed by Major General; Nikolai Mikhailov.
