"There is no gay gene, and people are not born that way."
Gayness has some heritability (like left-handedness). Not fully determined by genetics doesn't mean non-biological. Genes don't directly encode the fine structure of the human brain.
"Have respect for others..."
No.
"Destroying other's work by ridiculising them simply because you don't agree with them.. so unconvincing to me! "
The point is not to convince you, but to find humor in the absurd.

Folks who are indoctrinated into hating themselves, via the church or social pressure, need to repress, deny, or "change" what they dislike about themselves. There have been blacks who bleached their skin, convinced that being black was "inferior". There have been religious minorities who denied their faith, out of the mistaken idea that it was "wrong". And there are gays who pass in"str8" society, convinced that they've "changed" orientation. But WHY try to change the way God made you?
-
I agree. The one huge issue is that the majority of evidence points to it all being BS. If people want to change their sexual orientation, fine, but let's first discuss what is actually possible.

I read President Obama knew a cured gay! The book Obama:Why Black America Should Have Doubts shows this!

1. Crushing of the male identity by a parental emotional dysfunction. Namely a suffocating mother figure who sets out to destroy the male child via over control
and denial of the male childs independence from her.
and.. a distant father figure who shows the male child no strong masculine model of
behaviour, no love and no emotional nurture in any positive male way.

@ehunter2 Exactly. It takes an exceptionally introspective and strong personality to deal with, as you rightly say, DEEP-seated childhood trauma. In bitter irony, homosexuality corrodes these required traits (confidence, resilience, will, etc.)
Ex-gay critics ignore, how success rates for "conversion" therapy are as good as for any other addiction or psych. disorder. Should all drunks and sociopaths give up and celebrate their dysfunction, since healing is very difficult? That's liberalism!

@evaku2 NARTH defends the rights of clients to seek treatment for unwanted homosexual attractions. Individuals who are dissatisfied with their unwanted homosexual attractions and enter therapy seeking change should be respected and not be coerced into embracing identities which clash with their deeply held values or religious beliefs.
-
NARTH believes that people who are dissatisfied with their unwanted homosexual attractions should be given the opportunity to choose their own path and to pursue change if they so desire. If content homosexuals are accepted, discontent homosexuals who pursue change should be equally accepted.

That is a method used in many rehab and therapy centers. It's conventional therapy that helps a person deal wit anger issues. It's just a part of the process that is helpful

Why "conversion" therapy is such a failure is that the root emotional causes of homosexuality are in place by age 6. Which doesnt say that the emotional destruction isnt there, its just too deep for most people to go, let alone look.

SO what is the emotional destruction ehunter2?
and what have you done with ehunter1?
