@xDoctorWho The Zero Requiem was a collaberation between Suzaku and Lelouch, it was NOT how Lelouch was originally planning to change the world. In season 1, he planned to overthrow Area 11 via terrorism, then, once he was in charge, arrange a meeting between himself and the Emporer, at which point he would Geass him into handing over Britannia. For most of Season 2, he was building up an army and sought to take on Britannia directly.

Suzaku HELPED DEVISE the Zero Requiem.

If so, Lelou was seeking Zero Requiem. In such, he sought to turn against the world and cause it to hate him. By having the world hate him, they were able to unite against him, focusing it's hatred on a single point. Lelou needed to cause destruction and terror to have the people of the world hate him.
