We are isolationists because we are reluctant to fight and kill people and be despised by everyone?
It doesn't matter if we are trying to do the right thing or not, it is not our business.
The US government is supposed to protect Americans, not everyone in the damned world.

Yes, it does sound ridiculous.

I agree with you. "1 trillion dollars a year spent on our forces in 130+ countries overseas." Ron Paul.
Jacobs doesn't know his facts.

We (as a nation) seem to do is not complain about military spending. We can't ignore it, for military and war spending is a large cause of our current debt. We must stop ignoring it! Defense spending is huge!

At cato(dot)org you will find a list of navigation buttons on the left of the page.
Hit "Events" then hit "Event Archives"
Under the heading of 2009 is a link to "Can the Pentagon Be Fixed? (3/13/09)"
There is a great lecture there that can be downloaded as MP3 or watched as video.
I strongly recommend it!
Keep up the great work, Cato folks!
"We are an isolationist country" *facepalm* Colonel Jacobs is full of shit. We are an interventionist coutnry, with bases in over 100 countries.
