The 40mm bofors is one of the greatest of all modern weapons. It works well, and HAS worked well for 60 years.
The M42 Duster AA tank used a twin 40 mount kind of like this one. It wound up being used more for anti-infantry in Vietnam, and it was just as good or better at that than it was at AA.

During WW2, Chrysler Corporation mass produced the Bofors 40 mm gun for the Allied forces.

Bofors is Swedish, both sides in ww2 used their weapons :D
