there are sources saying we are assyrians, as well as there are sources saying we are arameans. indeed we are a mix of arameans and assyrians, who eventually became one, Suroye/Suraye.

Fr. Joseph Tarzi and many in his parish have severed their ties with the church as a result of the controversy with Mor Cleemis Eugene Kaplan. He and many of his former parish members are part of a missionary parish of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India.

i'm syrian orthodox and i've been trying to find out if my original roots are assyrian but i don't think that we have records in syria that go back that far.. if anyone has some info that can help it would be greatly apreciated

are the descendent's of the Assyrians.

He is not at the same church. He branched out into another church and yes there was a controversy with the bishop.
