now make a movie on the silmarillion! its also a book by TOLKIEN! though he died before he could finish it his son finished it. tis only proper to make a movie out of that book to! it takes place after LOTR if im not mistaken.

@akihamid1 The main problem is that huge parts of it are plain History. The Lord of the Rings is a novel born from that history, much in the same way historic novels take place in our world's history. You can make a movie about say, the French Revolution, but not Europe's entire History.

@IchBinUnbesiegt i agree with you, some books and epics are best left to ones imagination, besides from what i hear it sounds more complicated and detailed then the LOTR books

@Jbessette But a TV series would be much cheaper and wouldn't do Tolkien justice at all. I guess the Silmarillion is much too complex to be made into a movie. In fact, it's not a novel, but a mythical History of Arda (and even Eä..). It would be like making the Old Testament into a movie or TV series. People should just make an effort and READ books.

I hope that they will make a movie on the Silmarillion,too. But it takes place before the LotR. ;) I'ts about the Creation of the World and about the "Silmarillions" which were created by Feanor and stolen by Morgoth.

@siblilngs101 I takes place long before LOTR and Hobbit. I think that Silmarilion would be better if it was a TV Series because of the time spectrum in this book(it is chronicle that describes few thousands years of early Middle earth history)

@siblilngs101 It's a pre history of Middle Earth, covering the entire first 3 Ages. It's also a bit impractical to make a movie out of it. A lot of that book, except for select sagas, like Beren and Lúthien, are incomplete.

it would be better if The Silmarillion were made into a TV series because it is a collection of stories and not just one.
