Imagine an object with the form of a cuboid, about the size of the case in the video below. Neither you can see, nor you can touch it. The only reference of it's existence you get is the sound, which is triggered by your movement. This installation will shift your perception of physical objects from your eyes and hands to your ears.
Very early stadium, tracking done in VVVV using two Logitech Pro 9000, audio with MAX MSP. I am still working on accuracy and latency of the system, the sound is just for testing purposes and will later be redone completely. Audio is triggered by the movement of the hands. Approximation to the object rises the sinus, while a breaking through its' hull let's the frequency jump to a much higher rate.
The applications of this technology could be enormous; from protecting an object to creating 3D "touchable" worlds... Cool!
