  • @foxriverfred paul made a living by making tents like jesus made a living by making tables and

chairs by being a carpenter.... you need to check into that...

  • @gyreenedoc women to cover their hair "lest they tempt the angels". Of course Paul spoke Greek. All Romans spoke Greek. Few spoke Latin, and none in every day conversation. Latin was an archaic and formal language even to them. Greek was the lingua franca of the ancient world. I am not so sure Paul was "well to do" materially after his conversion. If he was, then why would he sew tents (his trade) to earn his bread? And would a rich man even need a trade like sewing tents?

  • @foxriverfred you sure its not the opposite? women to uncover and men to cover... yes, he was a fast talker.

he said things he hadn't even thought of yet... he could contradict himself twice in a single paragraph

and get everyone to think what they just heard is the truth.....but.... he could go to places . he was privileged.

well to do, roman citizen who was educated (he says rabbi gemaliel, a talmudic scholar was his teacher)

    and spoke greek......

  • @MenechemShaul aaaaaah. that is another reason i dislike paul. i admit he was educated and intelligent.

unlike peter. peter was the "am ha eretz" a regular, "down-to-earth" simple man and I believe it to BE the reason, jesus picked him. and look what happened? paul waltz in, with a tale of a vision for which we have

to take his word--three different versions of it not withstanding-- takes over.....poor peter, fish smelly peter....

    i miss you.

  • @MenechemShaul Paul wrote many things. If we follow your logic, women with uncovered heads and speaking in Church are also sinful.

  • @gyreenedoc Because Christ is risen! In Orthodoxy we focus on His resurrection -- and not his passion and suffering. It is His resurrection that shows His divinity. His suffering and passion shows His humanity.

  • You ignorants! LEAVEN IS NOT TO BE USED FOR COMMUNION! DO NOT QUOTE THE PARABLE REGARDING THE YEAST AND THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN! THE FIRST COMMUNION SERVICE WAS TO DO WITH UNLEAVENED BREAD (MATZAH), AND AS PAUL PUTS IT, 'Therefore, let us observe the feast, not with old yeast, or with the yeast of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.' (1 Corinthians 5:8). Leaven is sin, Communion is not sinful, is it?

  • Can't believe this is all it takes to make Osiris/Dionysus' body!

I wonder how special His blood making is.

  • @gyreenedoc That is the view of the Roman Rite, which uses unleavened bread. The Roman Mass emphasizes the passion, suffering, and death of Jesus, for the benefit of mankind. The Byzantine liturgy celebrates the Resurrection. Leavened bread is symbolic of the resurrection. Just as Jesus is risen, the Bread is risen too. Christians are not bound by the constraints of Passover. We may go beyond. Using leavened bread is one way of doing that.
