Our beloved golden retriever, Cody, bravely passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. When I made this video, it had only been a couple of days since his death. In fact, I literally crawled out of bed and went right to work on the computer where I made this.
It's been almost a year since his passing and I say his name every single day. Although he spent the last two weeks of his life in the hospital, you can tell from this video that his life was filled with good times and love. This song, by the way, is what I used to play and sing for him on the guitar during his illness.
I miss you, Cody, and I can't wait for us to be together again.

  • Amazing tribute!! One lucky pup and very lucky parents!! We just lost our 10 year old, Ty. It's tearing us apart and we feel like it will never get better. By creating this video Cody will live on in everyone's mind while he's content gallivanting in the afterlife. Peace be with you!

  • @Str8Tam

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm very sorry for the loss of your Ty.

  • It will be three years tomorrow, Cody. Three years.

I show this video to Lauren and she smiles at every photograph of you. When she's smiling and pointing off to a blank wall, we know she's seeing you. I feel you with us and know that you watch over us. I'll never, ever forget the promise I whispered to you when we last saw each other.

I love you and think of you always...

  • Just stopping by to say hi, Ol' Boy. Going through some difficult times now and was just remembering how you always seemed to be the glue to keep things together. I love you and miss you.

  • Happy Birthday, Cody...

  • Just stopping by Cody to feel close to you. I told Dr. Wyatt about the ball and the morel yesterday...She wasn't surprised one bit that you had left that for us. Miss you always.

  • I forced myself to watch your great video tribute to Cody... knowing it would make me cry. It id. My Charlie is almost six and i worry about the day he leaves... every single day. I am not sure i will survive without him. I have never loved anyone or anything like I love him. Thank God Cody had a human like you. What a great life you gave him. Think of the many dog who will never know such love. Im sorry for your loss and will pray that Cody and you are together someday. He was a beautiful life

  • Very touching and only a Golden owner could possibly understand the pain and loss. We just lost our Sugar a few days ago and you have inspired me to do the same for her as your beloved Cody. I hope you have found peace.

  • Once golden, always golden <3 Rest in peace Cody <3 <3

  • I love this video....I lost my first Golden 6 Years ago on Sept 12th.....I finally adopted another Golden on Sept 9th......His name is Cody.

    What a beautiful tribute.

  • I commented about my beloved Tanner that was my foster for golden retriever rescue & that turned out to be the love of my life. The funny part about all of that was I joined the rescue because I had a female golden that I loved so much. After I got Tanner from the former owners I told them he looked so much like my female inside of the house. Come to find out he was my females brother. Same mom & dad but born about 1 1/2 yrs apart. I never felt so blessed!! 2 great babies in my life!!

  • I loved your tribute to Cody. I was so touched that I watched it a few times crying the whole time while watching it. We adopted a golden that we were fostering 10 years ago and it was the best thing that ever happened to me!! I could see the love that you and Cody had. It was the same way with me and our golden Tanner. He past away just short of 8 years old and we adopted him at 1 1/2yrs. We made the most of every day and I am so great full that I did. He lived for me and I lived for him
