This is a video of our LAST full day in China. We were in Beijing and went to the famous Silk Market to get some last-minute souvenirs. Katie was getting a Coach purse for her sister, and I caught some of it on video. The sales ladies are CRAZY! They all yell at you at the same time, and then bargain starting at ridiculously high prices, and then grab onto your arm when you walk away. Watch all this happen to Katie =). Also, guest appearance from Kilee M.

  • What happened there does not surprise me. When I went to Mexico, I went to a market similiar to that one. Salesclerks were coming out and trying to convince me to purchase their goods but they NEVER touched me. They desperately need money. I sure hope you never bought a COACH purse because those little places sell fake knock offs

haha, actually we did buy a few knock-off coach purses there. We knew they were fake, and we got them for $15 US a piece.

  • trust me, they see you are foreign, they will triple and quad-triple the price!

Best thing to do is to ask a Chinese friend or host how much things usually go for, in fact, take them shopping with you. Go into a store separately, pick out what you want and then signal your chinese friend or host that is the one you want and how much you are willing to spend max, then let them bargain for u. Don't let on that you two are together.

  • @meinitaly1 they do but they will take advantage of the exchange rate. Best would be to use Chinese RMB

  • do they take american$ and euro?

  • Hmm was the 83 like ummm american money? Or is that in yuan :D hahaha Im going to Beijing I would like to know how much I would spend on a bag ;) heehee

  • 83 !? i got her down to 10 for one for my mum :L
