Arguably the most heartbreaking scene in a children's movie. This moment will live on in my memory forever...

"This use of two vulnerable characters - both painted the identical color - both seeking cuddles - both being pushed away - one wilting emotionally - one wilting literally - was an emotional path of change for the Toaster."

The director actually just did an AMA on Reddit and answered this question:

"Seeing the vulnerable little yellow flower wilt when she shoved it away has made her feel like never shoving vulnerable little yellow Blanky away again. To keep Blanky safe. To keep Blanky from "wilting". In the case of the flower, there was no way to help. In the case of the blanket, there is."

Yeah, just a lot of scenes that really eat you up. I just think this scene really shows the sadness of the flower and how it died alone, surrounded by no one, falling to pieces because it's love ran away from it.

Lonliness was a constant theme in the film. The air conditioner blew itself up living with the fact he's not much of an appliance as he was only useful to adults. The cars in the Junkyard, one of which drove straight into the smasher.

the type of flower is narcissus. that's it's name, like tulip.

i was pointing out some symbolism. whether it actually is or not is up for debate though.

I don't agree that the flower is a narcissus. The flower thought toaster was another flower and fell in love with toaster.

The flower had probably been alone its entire life, and when it fell in love and toaster left it, it had nothing left to live for.

Man, this movie really has some scenes that can break you...

Did anyone notice the music at :45 seconds in sounds like Beauty and the Beast music theme? This came out first, right? Interesting how it is when the flower loses one of its petals that the music comes in; and just like in the Beauty and the Beast movie the rose is losing its petals too..
