Former Lakehead faculty member Jeanette Lynes (English Department, 1991-1998) has made the 2009 Scotiabank Giller Prize Longlist for excellence in Canadian fiction writing with her work The Factory Voice - a quirky, light-hearted mystery about the lives and dreams of four vital, engaging women and the puzzling events that unfold at a Fort William military aircraft factory in 1941.

Lynes, who now teaches at St. Francis Xavier University, visits Thunder Bay on November 5 to present Riveting Rosie Returns: History, Story, and Can Car During WWII, an event hosted by Lakehead Universitys Advanced Institute for Globalization and Culture (aig+c).
