Since no-one has ever thought to produce an official live Echobelly release here is "Lustra" live from the Zodiac, Oxford on 27th October 1997.

The much maligned Lustra album was almost a soft and fluffy version of the proposed sound that was more apparent in the live performances. Echobelly had become dark, mysterious and, with new boy Julian on 2nd guitar, considerably heavier.

Other highlights from this set was the opening song "Bulldog Baby" which was to be the third single from the album before Epic bottled it.

The band went out of contract and out of cash after their accountant ran off with the loot. Of all the supposed "Britpop" era bands Echobelly showed the most promise of continueing to produce quality music which they proved beyond all doubt with "People Are Expensive", my favourite album.

So Echobelly live...for everyone who was there for the ride and those who tuned in from afar.

  • Can you post the video for "I'm Not A

    Saint" from this "Lustra" album?

    It's not on YouTube anywhere.

Both studio & live versions wanted.

  • There wasn't one I'm afraid.

  • Bulldog Baby was to be the third single but was pulled at the promo stage.

  • such a good song. couldn't find it anywhere

  • i thought the third single was iris art...

  • I just want to strangle that damn

    accountant....

    Echobelly fared better than Elastica.

    Echobelly should have been allowed

    more success!

  • But you could still post the studio version

and make up a video (or use black

    background)

  • take the cross you bear and throw it out.... a real good advice

  • of course, gravity pulls is a cool cd, and people are expensive as well...i love echobelly , i always did and i will always do

  • They sort of are. They released Gravity Pulls - a few years ago - more of an ambient guitar album, but still very cool imo.
