My Bio: Hiya! I'm Samuel but you can call me Sammy! I'm about 4 and a half years old. I'm a well-behaved neutered male dog. I like other dogs and cats and I REALLY LOVE kids and play very nicely with them too. My old family had five kids ranging from about four years old to teenagers and I loved them all so much. They had to give me up because mom and dad got divorced and lost the house. Mom tried to keep me in the new place but the landlord said "no dogs allowed". Bummer too, because I'm so well behaved. My rescue family has a little girl and I love to play fetch with her. They tell me that they are sure they can find me a home with little kids I can play with as much as I want. I'm really looking forward to that. I really miss being around kids all the time. I know how to do "sit" and they tell me I'm super cute when I do a "butt bump" (little repeated sits in a row). I know how to do "down" and "stand" too. I'm practicing my "stay" and "come when called". I love "come when called" because I get super yummy treats when I do that one right! I walk nicely on a leash most of the time (hey, everybody gets excited sometimes), love to play fetch, love to play games with other dogs, and can't wait to play with a new family!

About the Author (Dog): Samuel was surrendered by a family who tried their very best to keep this sweet guy. Between divorce, losing their home, and having a child hospitalized, they were unable to keep him any longer. Amelia's Angels Rescue Network rescued him from the Humane Society of Utah. Samuel is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. We believe him to be a possible cross between labrador and Australian Shepherd or American Foxhound (although he does not bay or howl - he does have identical markings to a foxhound, is the right height at 23" tall, and has many physical characteristics that are a match to the breed). Samuel lived on table scraps in his former home and is now on a healthier diet. He still needs to lose some weight to be at his physical best and would greatly benefit from regular exercise. He currently resides in a AARN foster home with two other dogs.

About the Rescue: Amelia's Angels is a rescue partner. Together with local shelters and other rescue organizations, we work to promote public awareness, increase adoption rates within the shelter system, and when necessary, transfer custody of animals to rescue organizations who can continue the work towards eventual adoption. We work with a number of local shelters in Utah and other rescue groups located throughout the United States. Our adoptable pets all reside in foster homes which gives them the opportunity to receive socialization with humans and other pets. Often, this includes socialization with children, including the very young. We make every attempt to teach basic social and behavior skills to the dogs in our care. Most often this includes potty training, anti-jump training, sit, down, wait, stay, and recall cues/commands. All training with the pets is positive reinforcement training (reward based training instead of punishment based training). We firmly believe that all animals, especially those from traumatic backgrounds such as shelter life, benefit the most from reward based training. We will not adopt to homes that use abusive means to control or train their pets. This includes shock collars, electronic collars (exceptions are deaf dogs with vibrating alert collars only), prong collars, or other similar devices.

What the Adoption Fee* Includes:
Your new best friend;
In the case of dogs, a collar and leash;
All available medical records for the pet;
First set of vaccinations, and when age and medical condition allows rabies and booster vaccinations;

*Adoption Fees are based on the species and age of the pet and can range from $50 to $150. Please e-mail Amelia's Angels Rescue Network at ameliasangels@gmail.com or call 801-448-6647 for specifics.
