Fortus FDM 3D System in Action with Joe Gibbs Racing

Joe Gibbs Racing engineers determined the cause of a tire blowout was due to an air-duct outlet not adequately keeping brake heat away from the tire. Using the Fortus 3D manufacturing system, they were able to develop a 3D prototype, make modifications, and use the FDM model to produce an end use part in days.

JGR used its Fortus 3D Production System for concept modeling, functional prototyping, and building manufacturing tools. It allowed JGR to speed from concept model to finished part in under 3 days and have a new duct outlet installed on the car in time for the next race.
