Porcupine Tree, Opeth and Tool. I call it the Prog Metal Trifecta. \m/

So true. Opeth are like progressive dark folk, Dream Theater are like very technical neo classical prog, Tool are kind of like art prog and Porcupine Tree are very melodic.

I was about to say the same thing to smcenahbk, but then I saw your comment. Right on! So nice to see other people thinking like this as well.

And please, no comparing between PT, DT, Opeth and Tool. The only thing that these bands have in common is that they're all progressive, Opeth have a darker, heavier sound, Tool are more philosophical and artistic, PT are more melodic and soft, and DT are very conceptual. They all have unique signatures, That is why all of them are so great!

I don't get how people can argue over which bands are better than other bands. This isn't football for fucks sake

My favorite part: [Steven Wilson singing] Devious movements in your eyes Moved me from relief Breath comes out white clouds with your lies And filters through me You're close to the final word You're staring right past me in dismay A liquid seeps from your chest And drains me away Mist ripples round your thin white neck And draws me a line Cold fingers mark this dying wreck This moment is mine
